21 Cafes in the Far West of Singapore That You've Never Heard Of
Here are 21 cafes in the far west of Singapore that you probably have never heard of. And we mean the extreme west, like Pioneer to Dover so cafes in Holland Village and Bukit Timah are not covered in this listicle. The independent cafes featured are not part of any chains and are not located in shopping malls. If you're planning a cafe-hopping trip to the west side, our little list might be of help!

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar - Famous Southern American Cuisine at Marina Bay Sands
Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, not to be confused with Yardbird in Hong Kong, has brought their award-winning Southern American cuisine to our shores, right at the iconic Marina Bay Sands. If you're a die-hard fan of chicken and waffles, or are a huge fan of authentic Southern American cuisine, this is one restaurant that you definitely cannot miss.

(CLOSED)Catfeine - The New Kid in Bukit Timah (The Hillford)
Bukit Timah is home to many cafes and the charming neighbourhood has no lack of F&B options. Joining the party is Catfeine, a relatively new cafe sitting at the corner of the commercial stretch of The Hillford. An abundance of natural light streams into the simply-decorated space. You will notice a snug little corner dedicated to books and feline plushies (truly living up to the CAT in Catfeine).

(CLOSED) All Day Brunch & Croffles @ Costa Coffee (Holland Village)
Costa 269, the latest Costa Coffee outlet in Singapore, occupies a prominent spot in Holland Village. Costa269 is the only Costa Coffee outlet in Singapore that has a hot kitchen, and the only one that is serving all-day brunch. The wholesome brunch menu is just two weeks old, but has already received pretty good reviews. Diners can look forward to classic breakfast favourites, prepared with the freshest ingredients, made fresh-on-demand. If you prefer breakfast with a view, do grab a seat by the windows on the second level.

Gelato, Tart & Waffles @ Geometry (Bukit Merah)
The artisanal gelato cafe prides itself in serving up affordable sweet fixes. The gelato here is freshly made with no artificial preservatives. Although I thought that the texture of the gelato resembles that of icecream more than gelato, the taste was definitely on point.

Epicurean Market 2016 @ Marina Bay Sands (12th - 14th August)
The fourth edition of the highly anticipated Epicurean Market greeted excited Singaporeans at 12pm sharp on 12th August. With a band of celebrity chef restaurants, an expanded Farmer's Market and over 50 masterclasses conducted by award-winning chefs, Epicurean Market is the most breathtaking and largest yet.

Olivia & Co @ Suntec City (between Towers 1 & 2)
The modern diner occupies an eye-catching spot right in the centre of the mall and sports an interesting industrial look, complete with vintage touches. Their menu is largely inspired by flavours from all over the world and this is evident in the cover of their menu where global iconic landmarks are pieced together meticulously. Being in a mall that sees large throngs of executives, Olivia & Co has lined up a cast of salads, superfood juices and sandwiches to cater to them too.

(CLOSED)Froth Reopens @ Ascott Raffles Place Singapore
Froth has made a big move from BIG Hotel to Ascott in Raffles Place. The 140-seater, probably most known for its Taro Waffles, has not just a revamped facade, but a revamped menu too. Chef Derrick leads the kitchen team here and they're constantly looking to create dishes that juxtapose Eastern and Western flavours. The Seafood Tom Yum Risotto ($29.90) possessed a great texture and captured the tom yum flavours quite beautifully and was one of the highlights for me.

Oh My Tian @ Whampoa West
Oh My Tian is the work of the people who brought you the highly popular Hatter Street at Hougang. So if you're thinking that this plate of waffles looks incredibly familiar, it is because you probably have seen or tasted it before. We ordered a Whoaffles with Vanilla Icecream and Salted Caramel Sauce ($9.50) to share and it did not disappoint with that crisp exterior and dense insides. It is definitely one of the better waffles that I've had in Singapore. My only gripe was that a part of the waffles was slightly bitter and it might have been a tad burnt.

(CLOSED) 20F Specialty Coffeehouse @ Foch Road
This is possibly the most ordered dish and the star at 20F. I had my reservations about this dish because I've seen some not so good reviews online. However, I still wanted to try it so badly. I mean, its duck confit and waffles! Two of my favourite things! How could I give that a miss?
The Duck & Waffle ($22) is available daily from 11am-5pm and it exceeded expectations. The waffles had a light crisp, are a little cakey and went really well with the sweet sauce. I felt that the duck leg could have been a tad more tender but the entire combination was a rocking one. The unique addition of a scoop of mixed berries sorbet gave a stark contrast in temperature and a bright tangy touch to the whole symphony. I really enjoyed it. The clever sprinkling of chopped pistachios elevated the visual appeal and I adored the nutty hints.

Clinton Street Baking Company @ Purvis Street
Just look at that stack of fluffy goodness. The Banana Walnut Pancakes ($18) at Clinton Street Baking Company were moist and each piece had a thin base of mashed bananas that kept the entire combination tantalizing throughout. It doesn't get boring, especially with their signature maple butter and I found myself going back to this repeatedly even when there were other dishes on the table. This is seriously my favourite pancakes in Singapore now!

The Cold Pantry @ Rangoon Road
Undoubtedly one of the most popular waffles in Singapore, pictures of the famed Chocolate Root Beer Waffles at The Cold Pantry have invaded my instagram feed time and again and I've always wanted to try their Thai Milk Tea soft serve! So we made our way here after brunch at AEIOU, only to find out that the Thai Milk Tea soft serve wasn't available until further notice...
So anyway, we've heard that the Chocolate Root Beer Waffles ($12.50) doesn't really have much taste of root beer but I think they've worked on the recipe because I can taste root beer in the waffle! The waffle is dense and fluffy and I really enjoyed that subtle root beer flavour with the cold charcoal vanilla soft serve. That root beer drizzle, though, really does not have a trace of root beer. Oh, and we added their handmade honeycomb crumble ($1.20) to make the waffles prettier!

Tring 313 Food Trail @ 313 (Somerset)
Have you heard of the mobile app, Tring 313? Well I haven't until I went on a food trail at 313@somerset. I learnt more about the app and after downloading it did I realise that the app has so much to offer! In addition to having a store directory and store locator, you can also purchase coupons on Tring 313. The coupons are exclusive to shops in 313 so you can expect to find 1 for 1 Bingsu deals at O'ma Spoon, $18 for a $30 discount deals at Chir Chir, and deals at Forever 21 and Singapore's favourite froyo store llaollao!

Montana Brew Bar
Media Invite
Montana Brew Bar and Nookie Yogurt have taken the island by storm ever since their opening. With Montana Brew Bar boasting innovative and highly affordable waffles and Nookie Yogurt booting out deconstructed desserts in yogurt parfait form, its no wonder that these two establishments were an instant hit. And very cleverly connected to each other at PoMo too.

(CLOSED) The Mama Shop
Late to the party, but at least I'm finally here! Kinda waited for all the craze to die down first before making a trip here. Popped by for brunch with Derrick and Charleen on a Sunday afternoon and I was honestly shocked to see the place empty, save for a blogshop holding a photoshoot. I'd expected this place to be packed to the brim, especially with all the publicity that it had had and its celebrity owners.
