Oriole Coffee - Truffle Pizza, Truffle Ravioli, Truffle Scrambled Egg Burger & Delightful Christmas Drinks in Orchard!
In anticipation of the holiday season, Oriole Coffee at Pan Pacific Serviced Suites in Orchard has come up with a few trufflelicious dishes and delightful festive drinks! The reasonably-priced festive highlights are available from now till 28 February. And, if you're a self-proclaimed truffle lover, you should most definitely schedule a visit!
I have been going to Oriole Coffee since 2008. I remember always getting their beef cheek tagliatelle or fish and cheeks! Their Taisho cold brew is my go-to whenever I need a caffeine fix in town. 13 years old, and still going strong, that must say something about this joint that withstood the test of time.

The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar - New Weekday 3 Course Lunch for Just $42++!
The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar has been popular since the very day they opened their doors, and for good reason. The gorgeous space is perfect for girly brunch dates, and romantic dinners — truly a venue for all occasions. Having been to The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar when they first opened, I have fond memories of this place and even fonder memories of their Salted Caramel Icecream which, needless to say, left a lasting impression. This time round, I'm back to check out their weekday set lunch menu. Do I have to tell you that I was beyond excited?

(CLOSED) Sopra Cucina @ Pan Pacific Orchard
(EDIT : SUNDAY BRUNCH HAS OFFICIALLY CEASED DUE TO MANPOWER ISSUES. All dishes featured are available on the Ala Carte menu)
I've walked past Sopra a couple of times but I've never gone in. When I finally stepped in for the first time, I realised what I have been missing out on. Sopra is a huge space beautifully decorated with vintage ornaments and furniture. It exudes a comforting and relaxing vibe and makes it quite the perfect venue for events, dinner and drinks. It is also a popular haunt for Ladies Night and has one of the awesomest happy-hour deals in town but people should really know about their Sunday Brunch. For just $66++, diners can have unlimited servings of Sardinian and Italian dishes. Top up $22 and you can drink your fill of Prosecco and wines. Now, tell me, isn't that a total bang for the buck?

Jamie's Italian @ Forum (Orchard Road)
If you have been to Orchard Road in the recent months, you would have most probably caught a glimpse or two of the eye-catching Jamie's Italian signboard outside Forum Shopping Mall. This is the second outlet of the global success to have opened up on our sunny little island, and the first to be serving up pizzas.

(CLOSED) Bottura @ Suntec City
Quality Italian food has always been known to come with quite a steep price tag but not the authentic Italian fare at Bottura, a 144-seater which sits eye-catchingly on the second level of Suntec City. Bottura is a family name and it brings from Italy traditional cooking methods and home-style dishes that Luka Bottura, the owner, grew up eating. The biggest highlight would be their handmade pasta. We have all come across homemade items, but the pasta here is not only homemade, but it is made by hand too. So thin that it wouldn't survive being processed by a machine, the pasta dishes served at Bottura are absolute must-tries

Pezzo Pizza Launches 2 New Pizza Flavours!
Media Invite
The kind people behind Pezzo Pizza planned a boat ride down Singapore River for the launch of their new pizza flavours! Pezzo Pizza is launching Singa Laksa pizza and Chicken Rendang pizza to commemorate and celebrate our nation's 49th birthday. How wonderfully apt to introduce these two local flavours into their existing menu!

The Manhatten Pizza Co.
Invited Food Tasting
Fancy a taste of the Empire State? Look no further than The Manhatten Pizza Co at Orchard Central! Located on B1, this eye-catching eatery is just steps away from the escalators.
It's kinda like a fast food concept so you order at the counter and you get your pizza!
If you order the 20-inch pizza, it will be delivered to your table!
Bjorn, the boss, welcomed us warmly and asked us what we will like to have but we told him to decide for us!
I was quite amazed at how Bjorn works in the kitchen and also serves the pizza to the customers with a huge smile on his face. He was super busy the whole night but whenever he could, he came to ask us for comments on the food. He's really nice and friendly!
NY wedges with curry sauce -$5
The curry sauce was not the least bit spicy but was sweet and tasty. It goes well with the mayonnaise. I probably was the only one who preferred this to the cheese wedges but I took a liking to the sweetness of the sauce!
NY wedges with cheese sauce -$5
The wedges were topped with a generous serving of smooth luscious cheese and mayonnaise. There's nothing not to like about this. Everyone was commenting on how amazing the cheese was. Fans of cheese and cheese fries, here's something you've to try! Also, don't you think that this box of wedges which costs only $5 is super value for money?
Original Buffalo Wings - $5.80
They were a little sweet and lack the spiciness of the usual buffalo wings but it suits me better since I can't really take chilli haha. But I guess Singaporeans being Singaporeans, would prefer a little spiciness to it
Our 20 inch pizza!!! - $42
(you can choose two flavours!)
Bjorn chose the two flavours for us! Roast Duck and Meat Lover. The two flavours that I secretly was hoping for HAHA. Guess he could read my mind somehow! Everyone was so excited about the pizza haha its ginormous!
Ooooohhh look at that
We were given these triangular cardboard "plates"
The Roast Duck pizza was created specially as a local flavour for Singaporeans!
The slice of pizza was really huge and it was quite difficult eating it because the pizza was too heavy to be held up haha. Anyway, I really loved the roast duck pizza! It's awesome! The chunks of yummy duck meat together with the melted cheese and soft pizza crust... It just doesn't get any better than this! We were quite intrigued by how the crust, despite being thin could be soft on the inside and just a little crisp on the out. Haha. X felt that the pieces of duck meat were not as warm as the pizza and preferred the Meat Lover. But everyone else really liked the Roast Duck pizza!
Meat Lover
The Meat Lover is topped with four different kinds of meat. It was definitely the pizza for me considering what a carnivore I am haha. Couldn't wait to chomp on it! Every mouthful was meat-full! Unfortunately, a few slices of pizza had their crust really burnt
The 7 of us were exceedingly full after the meal. Everyone was full of praise for the duck pizza and the cheese wedges! If the 20-inch pizza is too huge for you and your crew, you can check out their combos! With eight different combos available, there's bound to be one for you! Think a slice of pizza plus a soft drink for only $5.90. It's insane!!!
We suggest sitting further away from the kitchen because the smell from all the cooking and baking can get quite overwhelming.
A huge serving of delectable and mouthwatering pizza at an extremely pocket-friendly price, we're guessing that this place is gonna be very packed really soon! If you're in town and you're looking for a place for dinner, do visit The Manhatten Pizza Co!
We'll like to thank Bjorn for having us and for bringing a taste of New York to Singapore [:

Brunetti
It's been a long time since we've gone dessert hunting. It was a Sunday night and I was supposed to decide where to have dinner. I decided on Brunetti because I thought we could have dinner and desserts there.
When we got there, we took a long hard look at their menu for dinner. There were only a few choices and there was nothing really attractive so we ate at the food court before coming back here for desserts.
Outdoor seats
Sandwiches and pizzas
Chocolates
Pastries and "mini" desserts.
All the cakes/tarts shown here are miniature versions. The original sized ones are available too!
If you wanna try a number of desserts or do not want such a big piece of cake/tart, these will be ideal for you
Cookies, cakes and tarts.
Here are the tarts and cakes in their original sizes
Macarons and cakes
Gelato. Too many flavours to choose from
Flourless Chocolate souffle-$8
This was rich and just about the right level of sweetness. I'd recommend this for sharing as one might get a little sick of it after awhile
Lemon Tart Mignon- $2.75
The lemon curd had a pretty tough and rubbery exterior and wasn't exactly what we expected. Also the curd tasted artificial and strange. I had wanted the original sized one actually. Luckily, X convinced me otherwise
Seasalt caramel macaron and Chocolate macaron - $2.25
The macarons were definitely the highlight. The seasalt caramel one was awesome! It's a little chewy and everything was just oh-so-good! X didn't like it as much as the chocolate one because he said it was too chewy. Haha. The chocolate macaron was pretty damn good too! The ganache was smooth and delicious. I'll definitely return for their macarons!
Pear and cheese crumble- $10
We didn't think that this was very good. Firstly, there were too few pieces of pear. Secondly, the cheese and pear were too distinctly separated. The top layer consists of pieces of pear and blackberry jam while what lies underneath is a cheesecake with no presence of pear at all. Thirdly, the crust was neither crunchy or hard enough, nor was it soft. It felt more like it was soggy. Apart from all that, X liked the hint of blackberry which spiced up the taste of the pear. Also, the cheese was light and melted in our mouths.
A self-service system is employed in Brunetti. You order what you want, pay on the spot and carry them back to your table. For water, you've gotta ask for them at the counter too.
Brunetti was not as good as we had expected. Perhaps we should have tried their hot chocolate which is highly raved about. We've taken a look at their brunch menu and I guess we'll be back to try their truffle scrambled eggs. We'll try their hot chocolate then I guess!

Heart Of House
I decided on Heart Of House for dinner after learning about their extensive selection of beers and ciders. Knowing how X has been craving for an alcoholic drink every meal has made this an easy decision for me. Haha. Parking was quite difficult to find as there isn't a carpark attached to this eatery. The nearest places that you can park at are the multistorey carparks nearby or by the roadside which is quite a distance away.
When we reached the eatery, we were not greeted with friendly service sadly. The waitress came out, and upon acknowledging that we wanted a table for two, she just walked in and left us outside without asking us to follow her or holding the door for us.. Okay, so we sat down and took a while to look through their menu as they have quite a wide range of food and alcoholic drinks. When we were finally ready to place our orders, another waitress came along with a really "black" face. All this while, nobody smiled at us.
Well, okay.. So after that, I began taking pictures of the place and this male figure, whom I assume is the boss, was very friendly and struck up a conversation with me. He was pretty nice and told me about some of the vintage collectibles in the eatery.
Okay, so anyway, look at this. Kids eat free on Sundays! In addition, I saw that they've written on their chalkboard that if a kid gets an A in an examination, he or she can bring along his or her exam paper and get a free meal on the house or something. Pretty cool! Shows their support for children.
Cute metal cans on every table. It contains wet tissue
Milo tin lights
Pretty retro
TV that broadcasts live soccer games. Great for guys night out.
Weighing scale
Rekorderlig Pear Cider - $13
THIS WAS SO GOOOOOD. I was never a fan of alcohol and had my reservations about having an alcoholic drink but I was so glad I chose this! It was sweet and a little gassy. Somewhat like a soda. The alcohol content is 4.5% but I couldnt even taste a single bit of any alcohol! Haha this is perfect for people who don't like alcohol/beer. I've been craving for it everyday ever since haha
Belgium Lindemans Pecheresse -$12
Peach flavour, 250ml, alcohol content: 2.5%
This had a stronger taste of beer and wasn't as sweet as the pear cider.
Vintage plate.
We waited a really long time for our orders but they never came. We finally asked a waitress to check on our orders and they found out that our orders had been left out.
Calamari, served with homemade tartar sauce - $5
These were too salty.
And the portion.. was pretty small.
Because the food took too long to arrive, X ordered another drink. What an alcoholic haha
Rekorderlig Strawberry Lime - $13
X said this was really good too!
The ciders have to be drank with ice definitely. They would be too sweet if they were just chilled.
Chicken Parmigano -$18
Breaded chicken topped with back bacon, salsa and mixed cheese.
Comes with fries and fruit cocktail.
The chicken parmigano was an interesting mix of flavours. It was a little sweet and a little sour but it was definitely too salty. But I felt that it was quite good! It was like chicken covered in pizza toppings.
Bbq St Louis Pork Ribs -$18
comes with corn on cob and fries.
The corn was too raw. The ribs were pretty average but the meat was quite tender.
The best part of the meal was definitely the ciders. The food were pretty average but were too salty.
The table next to us had pizzas and the otah pizza looks and smells quite good! As for the service.. I think that they have some brushing up to do. The place is pretty chill, and the music is quite old school too. They play classics like Love Me and My Heart Will Go On. Also, there's no GST and service charge.
We''ll definitely be back for the ciders!
