Rempapa - Chef Damian D'Silva's Signature Peranakan Classics & Unique New Heritage Cuisine Now at Park Place Residences PLQ
Fans of Chef Damian would have followed his journey from his days of cooking up a storm at Folklore, to his fantastic run at Restaurant Kin, and they surely would have heard through the grapevine about the opening of Rempapa, before any information was even officially released. It's no wonder the renowned rebel chef has garnered such a wide and loyal following — his Peranakan dishes are truly second to none. I admire and have always been impressed by Chef Damian's passion in keeping traditions and his family recipes alive. He tries to stop the loss of more heritage dishes by making sure that Peranakan cuisine is accessible, and has now come up with New Heritage cuisine to introduce a taste of almost-lost Peranakan flavours to the younger generations.

Beauty in the Pot - Newest and Biggest Outlet at OneKM Mall
Beauty in the Pot is possibly Singapore's favourite hotpot place. I've eaten here countless of times, and I remain addicted to their Signature Beauty Collagen Soup, and Fried Beancurd Skin. There were times that I travelled all the way from my home in the west to Centrepoint in the wee hours of the morning just because I had to satiate those intense cravings. Many would compare Beauty in the Pot to Hai Di Lao, which isn't unusual. I am a huge fan of Hai Di Lao too, having first tried it back in 2013. I love their tomato soup, and their fish slices, and I've dined there numerous times too. However, in all honesty, ever since I've tried BITP, I have only been to HDL once, because I was already at Clarke Quay. Are you a huge fan of BITP too? If so, you'll be pleased to know that they have opened their largest outlet, yet, at OneKM mall, just a level above their very first outlet in Singapore.

The Chop House @ I12 Katong
With a team of experts wholeheartedly committed to serving the tastiest fare at affordable prices, it's no wonder that The Chop House at VivoCity has achieved such astounding success. They have boldly invaded one of the most popular malls in the east to do what they do best. Are you ready for what they have to offer?
Needless to say, the meats here are outstanding. The USDA Prime Grain Fed Ribeye ($38) had a fantastic char, was beautifully pink in the middle and absolutely delish. Three different sauces and a tasty house-made onion jam accompany the juicy and tender cut of beef. A side of fresh watercress provided a refreshing kick to the dish. It is an unusual pairing but definitely one that works.

Gin Khao @ East Coast Parkway
Having only been around for about three months, this little gem that sits in the not-so-accessible East Coast Parkway has captured the attention of a great many Singaporeans with their unique range of desserts. And as much as it was really far for me, I'm glad that I made a trip down !

Crab in da Bag @ Water Sports Centre (Singapore Sports Hub)
Yupp. That's just about an everyday sight at Crab in da Bag.
Crab in da Bag has opened its second nautical-themed restaurant at the Water Sports Centre at the Singapore Sports Hub, complete with a river view, sea breeze and really chill vibes. Crab in da Bag kicked off its grand opening in style and with a huge bang, no less, treating guests to its Caboodle Festival, where we witnessed the cooking of seafood in gigantic caboodle pots outdoors.
"Ahoy, Caboodle Boil!", we shouted as buckets and buckets of freshly cooked seafood were poured into this six-foot long, custom-built boat. No doubt one of the most extravagant live cooking demonstrations I've attended

Chuan Wang Ji @ Santa Grand Hotel (East Coast)
Chuan Wang Ji is just a couple of weeks old but they have already garnered a loyal following who come by specially for their spicy Sze Chuan dishes. The first thought that comes to mind when one mentions Sze Chuan food is probably the crazy levels of spiciness present in every dish. Little do we know that there are actually dishes that do not employ the use of hot spices. Most of the spices used in the preparation of the food are imported from China, heightening the authenticity of the cuisine served here

Straits Express @ Kallang Wave
Helmed by Peranakan chef, Philip Chia, Penang-born street-food chef, Frankie Ooi, and our very own Anglo-Hainanese chef, Bermuda Say, can you guess the three types of cuisine served at this railway-themed restaurant?
Paying tribute to Singapore's colonial heritage and set on creating a dining establishment where they can reminisce their childhoods, the owners of Straits Express decided on a concept that evokes nostalgia and a menu boasting delicious and familiar comfort fare

The Laneway Market
I popped by the soft launch of The Laneway Market on 27th December and was really amazed at what Christopher has done with the entire place. From designing the place to coming up with the menu and all, immeasurable amount of hard work has been placed into this pretty cafe. I got to know Chris as he's one of my bakers for Mean Bean & Wicked Grind, and we have grown to become pretty great friends over the months. He pops by Mean Bean quite often and starting learning a little about coffee and the art of making coffee and I can't tell you how proud I am of him and The Laneway Market. And I'm definitely a proud shi-fu to see my disciple grow in his coffee-making hahaha
