St Regis is all about the finer things in life. The brand is synonymous with 5-star luxury, exquisite dining experiences, and world class hospitality. A stay here is definitely a dream come true. If you've always been thinking about pampering yourself, and your loved ones, with a staycation at St Regis, but are not sure if you should splurge on a stay here, this post is for you.
Is this the best 5-star hotel in Singapore for a luxurious staycation?
If you've been to St Regis before, whether it's to dine at Brasserie Les Saveurs, LaBrezza, or Yan Ting, or even just to have a drink at the Astor Bar, you'd have noticed how grand the hotel is.
Before you book a room, I'll recommend that you sign up for the complimentary Starwood Preferred Guest(SPG) membership. The membership entitles you to exclusive discounts while making a reservation at any Starwood property.
We booked the 52sqm Grand Deluxe Room, and also signed up for breakfast ($588++).
As we were celebrating a special occasion, the patisserie prepared a chocolate cake for us.
The room is incredibly spacious. We liked that the motorized blackout roller blinds can be drawn with just a touch of a button, and that the room is equipped with Bose speakers.
I couldn't wait to jump onto the bed dressed in St Regis' signature linens, but I was quite disappointed that the bed wasn't as comfy as the ones in The Westin. We also had trouble with the temperature of the room. We kept setting it to 17 but it just stayed at 22 throughout. The room was really quiet at night, which was supposed to be good for a light sleeper like me. However, it was so quiet that the silence was "ringing" in my ears. The slightest sound would wake me up. I guess it's a pro for many, but unfortunately, a con for me.. I didn't have a good night sleep, as it was too warm under the sheets, and the bed and pillows weren't comfortable enough.
The French marble bathroom features a freestanding bathtub, two basins, a separate jet-massage shower, and a separate toilet.
While soaking in the bathtub, you can catch up on news, or watch a movie that's showing, on the AD Notam TV. The tv comes with a waterproof remote control, in case you're worried of it slipping through your fingers while you're relaxing in the tub.
As we asked for late check-out, at 4pm, I managed to have another long soak in the tub right before leaving.

For such a luxurious property, I've to say that the pool was rather underwhelming.
Evening cocktails at the Astor Bar. Our fruity cocktails were really delicious!
Breakfast at Brasserie Les Saveurs was such an indulgent affair. Apart from a selection of salads, bread, pastries, charcuterie, fine cheeses, and local delights, guests can also enjoy their choice of international Chef's Specials. Attractive options include Brioche French Toast, Pandan Waffles, Truffle Egg White Flan, Eggs Benedict a la Brasserie, Steak and Egg, Grilled Teriyaki Salmon.
Here's the Epicurean Omelette with poached Boston lobster and tiger prawn, cognac-scented lobster bisque and Avruga pearls. What a way to start our morning! Breakfast runs from 630am-1030am and you can be sure that your breakfast will be an extremely satisfying one. Oh, and service was awesome too!
Stepping into, and staying at, St Regis made me feel like royalty, even if it's just for a day. The staff made us feel like home, and there's also a 24-hour butler service so you don't have to worry about anything at all. While the entire experience was pretty amazing, the bed and pillows didn't quite meet my expectations. Hence, I'm not sure if I'll pay $700++(after taxes etc) for a stay here again. The suites look crazy though! Might give them a shot some day.
