Amari Hotel is the latest 5-star property to pop up in Johor Bahru. Located near the popular Wong Ah Fook stretch, Amari Hotel is within walking distance of the CIQ, City Square, and Komtar JBCC. It is also connected to Zenith Mall which has restaurants, entertainment venues, and convenience stores on offer. Its wonderful location makes it the perfect place to explore the city. We paid about $80SGD for a Friday night stay.
This is the reception level. Service here was really pretty great — the friendly staff took time to tell us about the facilities in the hotel, and such. We requested for late-check out and was granted an extra hour.
The hotel has a 24-hour gym, a nice pool, and a poolside bar, on level 8.
The common room, where guests can hang out, sits right next to the reception counter.

Families will love this movie room, which is connected to the common room. The movie room is packed with bean bags and exudes a cosy vibe. Movies are screened in the day so bring your children, kick back, and enjoy a family-friendly movie!
The spacious room sports a modern design, and is perfect for business travellers. The king-sized bed is big, and comfortable. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting such a comfortable bed. It was a pleasant surprise, and we all had a good night's rest.
You can browse the in-room dining menu, recommendations on what to do etc on the smart tv.
There's no bathtub, but the bathroom isn't shabby at all.
The wardrobe can be accessed from both the bedroom side, and the bathroom side. It's quite a smart design! The room is also equipped with ample storage compartments.
The view from our room wasn't the best for sure, but we were happy with the room! We called for a plate of carbonara(42rm) at 2am, and while it took awhile to arrive, it tasted decent, albeit too salty. We were shocked to see that a plate of fish and chips costs 70rm though!
All in all, we felt that our $80 was very well spent! We really like Amari JB's location, and how new it is. If you're thinking of crossing the causeway, why not book a stay here to fully enjoy the weekend? You don't have to rush back to Singapore by a certain time to avoid the jam, or queues at immigration, and can even check out their nightlife!
