The Farm Cafe is not the most accessible cafe, especially if you aren't driving. However, I promise you that this cafe will be worth the trip! You can easily spend hours here. Start by having a lovely brunch at the cafe, before taking a walk around the farm, and get ready for guinea pig cuddles and cow milking sessions!
Melbourne has no lack of good coffee, and I was surprised to find that the coffee here was one of the better ones that I had in my 3 weeks in the city. This beautiful cuppa cost just $4. I could easily polish off another glass, if I hadn't been so full.
The Sweet Potato Rosti doesn't seem to be on the menu before, but it was an interesting and healthy creation that my dining partner enjoyed very much.
The Farmer's Breakfast($21.50) was a real treat. A colourful medley of poached free range eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms and roast potatoes await. I can't believe that every ingredient was delicious, even the baked beans. The mushrooms were super juicy and earthy and totally won my heart. This is definitely one of the most perfect brunch dishes I've ever had in my life. Absolutely no complaints at all. The portion is really generous so I was really stuffed, but I still finished every morsel.
After brunch, we took a walk to see all the animals on the farm. Beware of this handsome white horse, as it bites! It bit my arm, and even though I was wearing a leather jacket, my arm still had quite a bad bruise. I can't imagine what would have happened if I didn't have my thick jacket on.
There were many cyclists, and people who brought their dogs for a fun day out, here.
You can pay a small fee of $10 to enter the farm where you'll get to carry guinea pigs, watch a cow get milked, get up close and personal with goats and sheep, and more.
We passed by the stables, but spotted no horse. Instead, we found a cat chilling like a boss.
This baby lamb was so adorable. It kinda escaped when the gate was slightly ajar but it came bouncing back when it realised it was feeding time.
I'll really recommend that you pop by the cafe, and the farm, if you're not on a tight sightseeing schedule!
