MoVida - One of the Best Restaurants in Melbourne
With three outlets in the CBD, MoVida is definitely doing something right. I made a reservation about 2 months prior to my arrival in Melbourne, and stepping into the cozy and warm MoVida Original for my first dinner in this beautiful city proves to be one of the best decisions that I made in my entire trip. Packed to the brim on a Thursday night, MoVida has a team of the friendliest servers who won't hesitate to give you recommendations. Are you ready to find out more about the second best meal that I had in Melbourne?
Cocktails to start the evening? Yes, please.
Fresh oysters with a dash of lemon have become one of my favourite appetizers. The oyster at MoVida wasn't the plumpest, but it had a subtle sweetness that I adored.
Here are all the dishes that we tried, and we would recommend ordering all of them (except maybe one)!
The Caballa Ahumada($6.50) was absolutely amazing. Cold smoked Spanish mackerel is brilliantly paired with a delicious pine nut gazpacho sorbet. This is seriously fantastic, and don't be surprised if you find that one portion is not enough!
Bistec Tartare ($6.50) - tartare of raw milk-fed beef with horseradish on potato paper
Tostada($5.50) - pressed pork sandwich, red onion jam & quail’s egg
Daily special - super yummy!!!
They have tons of seasonal items and daily specials, so be sure to check with the servers.
Anchoa($5) - hand-filleted Cantabrian artisan anchovy on crouton with smoked tomato sorbet
This was one of the most highly recommended tapas that is apparently a must-try. However, it was too salty for us.
The Cecina($25) was another dish that really impressed us. Slices of air-dried Wagyu are arranged neatly in a circle, before a handsome blob of the smoothest truffle potato foam is placed in the middle. The ensemble is topped with a poached organic egg, no less! This might be the most addictive mashed potato you've ever tasted. You've been warned!
Queso($4) - whipped goat’s milk cheese wrapped in quince paste & brik pastry
There's no better way to end a splendid meal than with the classic Spanish dessert - Churros($12.50). The crisp churros are served with warm drinking chocolate and this sweet treat will round off your meal perfectly.
