Hai Tien Lo (Pan Pacific Singapore) - Hearty Reunions
The Year of the Fire Rooster is almost upon us and I'm sure many of you are looking for places to have your reunion dinner. This Chinese New Year, Pan Pacific Singapore is bringing you traditional Cantonese delicacies at Hai Tien Lo, a delightful buffet spread at Edge and a Japanese-inspired Wafu Yu Sheng at Keyaki. Executive Chef Lai Tong Ping of Hai Tien Lo has tailored eight reunion set menus, including a vegetarian menu, so you can be sure that there's something for every family, or company! Featured here is the Steamed Farm Chicken with the lauded housemade minced ginger sauce. A touch of opulence in the sprinkling of gold leaves completes the dish.
Toss to a bountiful new year with Hai Tien Lo's six auspicious Yu Sheng platters. The recommended Flourishing Wealth Reunion Yu Sheng ($88/$168) comes with Boston Lobster, Norwegian Salmon and Surf Clams. How luxurious! The yu sheng platters are available for both dine-in and takeaway from 9th January to 11th February. Advance order is required for rooster-shaped yu sheng.
No Chinese New Year feast is complete without the extravagant Poon Choy. Choose from Hai Tien Lo's Classic Fortune Treasure Pot ($338 / $468) which is an indulgent mix of premium ingredients such as whole abalone and traditional stewed chicken or the Premium Wealth Treasure Pot ($388 / $588) that features pork knuckle, roast duck and more. These Poon Choy are available for both dine-in and takeaway from 9th January to 11th February.
So much goodness and nutrients are packed into the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall. Maca and wolfberries have been added to enhance the taste of the double-boiled soup and they increase the nutritional value of the soup too. I don't really like Chinese soups but this was incredibly tasty and I finished every drop!
Topped with dried scallops and minced garlic crumbs, the Steamed Sea Perch Fillet blew me away with its captivating freshness and a subtle sweetness that permeated every ounce of the fillet. It was really soft and absolutely delicious. I tried my best to go through this dish as slowly as I could because I simply couldn't get enough of it!
The Stewed Inaniwa Udon with Seafood and Truffle is a popular dish at Keyaki. The slightly viscous broth was light and the seafood fresh. Not to mention, the silky smooth udon that I slurped up in no time!
Rounding off the meal, we were served an Auspicious Eight Treasures Tea with Snow Swallow.
The dessert holds just the right amount of sweetness to conclude the meal on an excellent note. The snow swallow comes from a plant and has a jelly-like texture that takes a little after bird's nest.
Chinese New Year goodies are a must every year and I'm pleased to let you in on the range of takeaway goodies that you can get at the Pacific Marketplace and Hai Tien Lo. The Koi Fish Nian Gao ($28.80) comprises a pair of beautifully crafted nian gao in a pretty red box and the Minced Ginger Sauce ($18.80) will be a great dip for steamboats or for steamed chicken or fish dishes. If you're looking for snacks to munch on, don't miss out on the addictive Caramel Walnuts with Sesame Seeds ($28.80)!
