The Great Meat Feast @ The Carvery (Park Hotel Alexandra)
The Carvery at Park Hotel Alexandra plays host to The Great Meat Feast which will be taking place from 28th September to 22nd October. The 140-seater is known for its tantalising meat buffet featuring premium roasts, unique butters and much more. With an exciting line-up of quality meats brought in from different parts of the world, meat-lovers can expect nothing short of an amazing and indulgent meal at The Carvery!
Various salts for you to pair with the prime cuts of beef
An array of mustards for those who prefer a stronger tasting condiment to complement their meats.
Apart from wood-fired pizza, The Carvery also boasts a variety of pastas cooked to order. Think carbonara, aglio olio and more.
Besides the obvious highlight of the evening, which is the alluring selection of beef, this has got to be my favourite thing here. The Truffle Butter was incredible. I think I had close to half of the entire slab just on my own. I was chowing on so much of their freshly baked breads with the butter and also, eating the truffle butter on its own. I love butter, and this is brilliant.
Leave the best for last? Nah, we started the night off with the best of the lot. The Aomori Rice Beef that hails from Japan comes from 20-month old cattle bred in Northern Japan. The cattle is fed spring water from Mount Hakkoda and whole rice plants only. Its stringent diet ensures that the meat of the cattle has an unparalleled richness and an extraordinary texture. Every bite promises a burst of umami and I promise that you won't be disappointed! So good, you'll definitely be going back for more! Do note that the Aomori Rice Beef is only available on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you don't already know, Cape Grim in Tasmania has the cleanest air in the world. As a result, the cattle there have no choice but survive on the purest air, water and grass. Sustainably grown, all Cape Grim beef is free of antibiotics, hormone growth promotant or genetically modified organisms. I'm not that huge a fan of the tenderloin cut as it is too soft, and has no fats, but I know of many who love a good filet mignon or tenderloin.
The 500-day chocolate and grain-fed Mayura Full-Blood Wagyu has a light sweetness and nutty hint.Full-blood cattle comes from a pure ancestry, unmixed with other breeds, and is different from purebred cattle. The lineage is meticulously preserved and full-blood wagyu beef is always quite significantly more expensive than their non-pedigree counterparts. Mayura Station has been raising full-blood cattle since 1997 in Limestone Coast in Australia and you can expect a buttery flavour, coupled with a captivating juiciness, from one of Australia's best meats. Second favourite of the night!
Procured from the hump of the Zebu cattle from Brazil is a strong-tasting and unique cut of beef that very much looked like pulled pork. The grass-fed Zebu is quite unheard of in Singapore but it is a national favourite in Brazil. It is a lean and unusual cut but chef has done a good job with it by wrapping the meat up before roasting it, to retain moisture and flavour.
A grand feast consisting of awesome meats just can't do without a glass ($14) , or a bottle ($68), of premium red wine.
What a pleasing sight. A gigantic slab of grain-fed Black Angus from the states! Black Angus is very popular and deservingly so. It is so wonderfully flavourful and tender!
We have short ribs from New Zealand on the left and it was very firm, a little tough to bite through and doesn't quite match up to the rest of the roasts available.
Apart from beef, rotisserie chicken, leg of lamb, pork knuckle and Yorkshire pudding are on offer too. The spread is honestly, pretty fantastic and it's one of those buffets that you will feel like you're absolutely getting your money's worth. Carnivores, you can't miss this one!
