Singapore Coffee Festival 2016 Cafe-Hopping Trail @ Oriole Coffee, The Coastal Settlement & PAUL Bakery
The first ever Singapore Coffee Festival is just around the corner and it is the one event that coffee aficionados and those who are keen to learn more about coffee must not miss. We were treated to a cafe-hopping trail as a sneak preview of what can be expected at the highly anticipated event. More than 100 exhibitors will be on site, bringing you the best of coffee and lab sessions at the four-day event at the F1 Pit Building.
Oriole @ 313 Somerset
All coffee fanatics would have visited or, at least, heard of Oriole. One of the leading roasters and coffee house in Singapore, Oriole has been grooming the best baristas in the industry and brewing award-winning coffee. In the whole of Orchard Road, Oriole is the only place I visit for coffee. I always have the Taisho White. While the Death Cream is lovely too, it's a little too rich, sweet and heavy for a morning perk-me-up. I've been to Oriole countless times, with my first visit dating back to 2008. I came back time and again for their Beef Cheek Tagliatelle and Honey Crumble Affogato (no longer available). And it's still one of my favourite places to grab a cuppa after all these years.
For those who don't already know, Oriole boasts an attractive food menu and affordable set lunches. We tried a couple of their breakfast/brunch items and they earned praises all around.
A unanimous favourite would be the Crabcake Benedict. The poached eggs had a perfect flowy core and the crabcake was just delicious. I enjoyed the Rosti and French Toast very much too.

The Coastal Settlement @ Netheravon Road
We hopped onto the gorgeous Kombi Van and was whisked off to the far east where we dined at one of my favourite restaurants in Singapore. I've always had a soft spot for The Coastal Settlement. I fell in love with the ambience and location back in 2012 and it's been on my recommendation list to couples who are planning date nights, ever since.
We had a huge feast of Portobello Fries, Wagyu Cubes, Truffle Fries, Pulled Pork & Eggs, Spicy Tom Yum Pasta, Wagyu Beef and Mushroom Thin Crust Pizza and Chicken & Waffle! If I had to choose a favourite, it would be a close battle between the Pulled Pork & Eggs and Chicken & Waffle!

PAUL Bakery @ Ocean Financial Centre
We rounded up the day on a sugar high with a platter of sweet bakes. The Salted Caramel Choux took me by surprise. Within the light choux puff lies an abundance of cream and salted caramel sauce. The entire combination, while messy to tackle, was more than delightful. The Salted Caramel Choux will be available at the Singapore Coffee Festival !
