999.99, you might wonder why. The finest and purest form of gold stands at 999.99 and that's exactly what is served at Five Nines, only gold standard fare. The menu here is crafted from an elaborate and intricate use of luxury ingredients, amplified by flavours and techniques from Europe and Japan, all while keeping affordability a priority.

Executive Chef Masanao from Tokyo has worked in several restaurants in different parts of the world and he has now brought his brilliance to Five Nines, lending a strong Japanese influence to the cuisine here.

Burrata & Tomato Salad
Burrata is one of the few cheeses that I don't mind and I liked that Fives Nines dressed it up with tangy and citrus flavours. Can you spot a clear cube of jelly in the middle of the dish? I bit into it and I was like "tomato jelly?" and then I looked at how clear it was and doubted myself. It turned out to be tomato jelly indeed! Wow.

King Crab Croquettes - $13
I don't know about you but I haven't really encountered croquettes that left a deep impression or warranted a repeated order. Well, that statement held true until Five Nines sent me a splendid treat of thin crispy batter wrapped around king crab meat sitting unassumingly in a creamy bechamel sauce. Great textures, awesome flavours and quite possibly, the best croquettes I've had.

Chilled Caviar Capellini - $20
This was the only dish that was a letdown. Too moist, too bland, rather forgettable.

Grilled Swordfish & Spring Onion - $15
Before dinner started, we were told to guess the prices of all the dishes after we've tried them. I gave this a price tag of $29, because you know, swordfish. Also, it was executed so incredibly well. The swordfish was amazingly juicy and soft and I thoroughly relished every bite, wishing that there was more. So, when I was told that this cost $15, I almost flipped. I was so stunned because $15??? Really?

Beef Tenderloin with Foie Gras - $29
Everything I love, all on one plate. The tenderloin had a beautiful stunning pink core and was wonderfully rich in flavour. The tenderness and juiciness had me spellbound. The foie gras was a tad too small and a little too tough for my liking but the entire combination with a bed of creamy mash was still a winning one in my books. Be one of the first twenty diners to order this to enjoy it at just $19.

Lobster Gratin - $29
An entire lobster decked in a delish bechamel sauce and melted cheese sounds like it could potentially burn a hole in your pocket but guess what? This gorgeous palate-pleaser will not break the bank. Like the Rossini, the first twenty portions of the day is priced at just $19, and you can even find this on the restaurant's lunch menus that go at $19 or $29.

Tiramisu - $8
While the taste of alcohol is almost completely absent, the tiramisu is smooth and light with an ample coffee flavour. I love how delicate the creamy mix was and how it melted slowly in my mouth.

Lemon Granita & Mango Panna Cotta - $8
For those who prefer a fruity and refreshing dessert to seal the meal, this is definitely up your alley.

I really enjoyed the food at Five Nines and I find the prices really reasonable. While some might find the portions too small, do note that Five Nines focuses on small plates for sharing. Bring along a few friends and order an array of dishes to share! I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed.

Monday - Friday: 12pm – 230pm, 6pm – 12am
Saturday - Sunday: 6pm – 12am

Love, K
