Taking over Woodshed on Rangoon Road is a cafe that serves up innovative and instagram-worthy sweet treats. Apart from their signature desserts, they have waffles and cakes too.
We were the last customers of the day at around 930pm and we waited for 20 minutes for our desserts to arrive.
Chocolate Avalanche - $13.90
I absolutely adored the presentation. Diners are supposed to cut through the lava cake to allow the molten lava to drip onto the bed of chocolate soil and orange-infused vanilla icecream through a deliberately crafted hole in the biscuit which acts as a partition. The rich and warm Valrhona chocolate lava, together with the creamy icecream and the incorporation of crunchy textures was a complete stunner. We simply could not get enough of it!
Rubber Ducky - $12.90
How cute is this cheeky miniature version of a rubber ducky in a bubble bath? I can't even begin to fathom the creative ideas and thoughts that run in the minds of the brilliant folks at Non Entree Desserts. The cocktail sorbet was sturdy and held its shape even after a long while. The overall mango flavour was strong but not overpowering even with the accompaniment of refreshing mango puree and mango spheres. I didn't think that I was going to like it but I did. My only gripe would be the lemongrass foam which I felt did the entire combination more harm than good. However, I'm not a fan of lemongrass to begin with so.
Will definitely pop in again for a sweet fix if I'm in the area. Saw their TNT dessert which looks amazing. Can't wait to see what they come up with next!
