Atlas Coffeehouse @ Duke's Road

The good people behind my favourite coffee haunt, Assembly Coffee, has opened up Atlas in a more accessible spot in Bukit Timah. With an expanded menu and a bigger space, I wasn't the least bit surprised to find Atlas packed to the brim as I walked in on their second day of operation.

Atlas has taken over the space formerly occupied by Mad Jack. It commands an eye-catching location along Bukit Timah Road but the address might confuse those who are not familiar with the area.

Summer Chicken Stew - $17
The tasty chicken stew was buttery and fragrant but it was a tad too oily for us. The chicken was wonderfully tender and firm and I quite enjoyed it.

ATLAS Butterscotch Banana Pancake - $18
Banana pancakes are a must-order for me every single time I see it listed on a menu. The fluffy pancake, complete with a light crisp, required a wait of at least 20 minutes but it was well worth the wait. The portion was really big and the thick pancake was fluffy and moist and it stayed that way even after 1.5 hours. I loved the whole combination of caramelised bananas, homemade butterscotch and honeycomb (one of my favourite combinations, ever) and this was no doubt, my favourite dish of the lot!

Bacon, Beans & Sausage - $16
I wasn't quite sure what else to order so I opted for something that has meat incorporated. I didn't expect this to be phenomenal and it was, indeed, pretty average at best. For those who are looking for a light breakfast or brunch option, this might do the trick for you.

The ATLAS Super-bowl, Salmon Soba Noodles and Chicken Miso Salad are healthier choices available for lunch-seekers. Coffee beans used here are from Two Degrees North but honestly, I preferred the coffee at Assembly when they were using Liberty beans. This was a lot more acidic and thinner in body.

I'll definitely be popping by a lot more in the future!
