Sprigs @ Purvis Street
Chef de Cuisine Shubri, previously from Gunther's, is now at the helm of Sprigs. After a huge revamp, Sprigs is ready to greet diners with a contemporary European dining experience featuring beautifully plated dishes.
Baby Squid A la Plancha - $22
Mix the pool of squid, bread salad, Lomo Iberico and sunny side up all up and enjoy the smokey and crispy squid and delicious iberico. This makes a very savory appetizer that will definitely whet your appetite
Roasted Veal Carpaccio - $22
Delicate veal with a delish tuna mayonnaise sauce. A great option if you're looking to start your meal on a high note.
Black Berkshire Pork Chop - $45
Armed with a captivating citrus touch from the presence of lime butter, here we have 400grams of fine meat covered in sherry glaze. The pork chop was not as well-cooked as I would have liked. The tender and juicy parts were really delicious but some parts were pretty tough.
New Zealand Rack of Lamb - $38
Carrying a pretty shade of pink, the rack of lamb is accompanied by aubergine caviar and sauteed potatoes. Might just be the highlight for lamb lovers but not so much for me
Chilean Seabass - $40
I'm not crazy about fish in general but I'll go crazy for this anytime. The fresh seabass was succulent, sweet and clean-tasting. It sits in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, chopped tomato and chopped basil which accentuates the sweetness of the fish. There's also Lomo Iberico which adds a savory edge. This dish is not just wonderful in taste, but instagram-worthy too.
Cheese shaved into florets
Tete de Moine Cheese - $12
A unique and savory dessert that you simply can't miss! The cheese wasn't overpowering or pungent and had a sweet fragrance. It seems so simple but the pairing of the crusty raisin bread and cheese was quite a smashing combination
Chocolate Mi-cuit - $12
Lava cakes are a classic. They're always crowd pleasers and all-time favourites. However, this is the first time that I've seen a lava cake paired with pomelo and yuzu! The cake was moist and soft and the molten chocolate was so rich and everything just went so well together. Brilliant!
Frozen Mandarin Souffle - $12
Fluffy, light and icy at the same time, this was a really interesting dessert that I never expected to like. It was extremely delightful and refreshing and I liked how the taste of mandarin wasn't overwhelming.
While the savory items at Sprigs were decent, the desserts fared better with me. The coffee is not bad and they have a unique selection of tea too. You should most definitely check out Sprigs' value-for-money set lunches which change pretty frequently!
