(CLOSED)King Feast New Year's Eve Menu @ Salt Tapas & Bar (Raffles City)
The luxurious King Feast at Salt Tapas & Bar is truly fit for royalty. Diners can choose from two variations, land or sea, and I promise you that both are equally good. I prefer the sea version which had oysters, lobster, brown crab and rainbow trout, but the land one was really fantastic too. This menu is only available on New Year's Eve and if you're looking for a great evening filled with wonderful food, great vibes, nice music and commendable service, this might just be the place for you!
Grilled Sourdough with Prawn Butter (Sea)
Grilled Sourdough with Bacon Bone Marrow Butter (Land)
Depending on the menu you pick, you'll get the respective housemade butter with fresh sourdough. I really adored the prawn butter. I love that the sweet taste of prawn was encaptured in the creamy blob. The bone marrow butter was extremely buttery, due to the buttery nature of bone marrow to begin with. The taste of bacon was quite distinct to me, but rather subtle to the rest.
KING OF THE SEA
$100/pax, minimum 2 to dine
Warm Oyster with Soy Scallion Dressing
This is my first time having a warm oyster in its shell. The warm ones that I've had were those in oyster omelettes. This was absolutely delish! The soy scallion dressing complemented the oyster really well and dulled that "stinky" taste that some might not enjoy. It even brought out the sweetness in the oyster. My only gripe? There's only one for each person.
Lobster Paella
It's no secret that the paellas here are a huge hit and super popular. What more, a rendition incorporating fresh lobster and saffron rouille? Lightly mushy, extremely tasty, this is terrific
Boiled Brown Crab
This might be a tough one to handle and might not be so ideal if you're on a date but the fresh and succulent crab meat is definitely worth the tussle. Dip them in the chipotle tartare, crab infused claried butter with chives and garlic or ponzu dressing for a tastier finish. If you're bringing your girlfriend to dinner, you can display some heroism in tackling the crab on her behalf!
Char-grilled Rainbow Trout with Garlic Dill Dip
A whole fish like this would cost you a bomb at any restaurants. Over here, you get a whole rainbow trout that is grilled perfectly at a very reasonable price. The meat was firm but tender and so fresh you could almost taste the sea! I don't usually go for seconds when it comes to fish dishes but I had more of the trout that I thought I would.
KING OF THE LAND
$80/pax, minimum 2 to dine
Seared Foie Gras
My oh my, where do I even begin? The fatty and rich slab of foie gras had a marvellous sear and was complemented by a tangy sherry eschalot vinegar. Every bite was just, divine.
Spatchcock Mushroom Cepe Paella
This was voted the most popular dish of the night. I adored the texture of the rice and the abundance of mushroom and tender chicken chunks. Mix the dish up well and savour the rich flavours and earthy goodness!
The Wagyu Sirloin with Smoked Beef Jus was very enjoyable. It was kinda everything that you would expect. Tender and delicious.
The Spatchcock Confit with Thyme and Garlic did not impress with its pale outlook but tasted pretty decent. This dish is served with grilled asparagus with saffron rouille on the side.
Ala-carte
The New Year's Eve menus do not include desserts but you really have to give these churros a shot. This is my second time having them and I still love them to bits!
