Rise & Grind Coffee Co
The new kid in the Bukit Timah neighbourhood, Rise & Grind has been drawing a great amount of attention to the very old Bukit Timah Plaza. There's hardly any reason for me to go there except for some late night pool but Rise & Grind is almost reason enough for me to make a trip there specially. Because, that Tom Yum Pasta.
Mocha - $5
7oz - $6
Seven ounces for $6 is honestly, pretty damn steep
Iced Latte - $6
My iced latte was very acidic and had a distinct sour aftertaste. Not my cuppa coffee I have to say
Sweet Potato Fries - $7
These extremely addictive fries were gobbled up in no time. Sweet potato fries over truffle fries, anytime!
Honey Wings - $9
Not to be compared with Korean Fried Chicken drenched in all-the-rage soy garlic sauce, these crispy wings were coated with a thicker batter than we would have liked. While the tangy edge to the sauce received different levels of adoration from each of us, I still enjoyed them!
Scrambled Eggs Croissant - $9
A simple and comforting pick-me-up. Ideal if you're looking for something light
Tom Yum Pasta - $16
This dish received a unanimous vote of 'Best Dish of The Day' from all five of us. This Tom Yum Pasta is seriously good stuff. Possibly the second best one that I've tried so far. Intense, flavourful, but not overwhelming. The sauce wasn't too creamy or thick, and you don't get sick of it. And that pasta was cooked perfectly. Definitely something I'll come back for, again and again.
Chilli Crab Pasta - $16
This was not bad but we felt that it could use a little more flavour. This also might not be that accurate a thought because after trying the Tom Yum Pasta, everything just paled substantially in comparison haha
Ocean's Thirteen - $13
I love the colorful presentation. Good old flowy poached eggs topped with a unique addition of ikura. Nothing to rave about but it was satisfying nonetheless. The beetroot yogurt spruces up the plate but might not tickle the tastebuds of most
Nacho Libre Burger - $17
Having read a review about how good the burger was, we decided to give it a shot. I enjoyed the whole Mexican take on the burger. I mean, guacamole, sour cream and nacho chips have always been a brilliant combination. The chicken patty, unfortunately, was a complete letdown. It was bland and artificial-tasting.
Hangover Cure - $18
This is pretty much, what you see is what you get. Just different ingredients thrown together on a plate. A little of everything but I've always rendered such big breakfast dishes as unimpressive in general.
If you're popping by for brunch, you have to try the Tom Yum Pasta. Period.
