Tucked deep inside the exclusive Keppel Club is Peony Jade, a beautiful Sze Chuan Cantonese restaurant that sits on the second level. A perfect place to hold reunion dinners, I say! Both Peony Jade restaurant branches celebrates the new year with 'Eight Rhapsodies of Spring' delights, two new dessert creations and eight new dishes available for dine-in or takeaway. This festive menu is available from now till 15th March
‘Instant Enormous Windfall, Good Health and Longevity” Bonsai-Shaped Yu Sheng
This is hands-down the most luxurious yusheng ever. Just look at that uni, Atlantic salmon, tuna belly, Alaskan crab claw, lobster meat and sweet shrimp! My heart skipped a beat when this amazing plate of pure goodness arrived. And everyone's eyes just went big and a "wow" escaped our lips. Haven't seen any yusheng even half as decadent as this!
The yusheng is elevated by the addition of yuzu juice, truffle oil, roasted pine nuts, deep fried lotus chips and more! Tell me again this is not the best yusheng you've seen thus far?
This yusheng is priced at $198.88, serves up to 15 people and is only available for dine-in at Peony Jade at Keppel Club!
“Prosperity & Smooth Sailing” Hand-crafted Goat-shaped Deep-fried Hum-Soi-Kuok, glutinous rice stuffed with minced pork and mushroom, with Steamed Black-eyed Pea Cake with golden pumpkin
The year of the Sheep is here and everyone is expecting to usher in the
new year with lamb-centric dishes. What's better than that though, is to
celebrate the new year with these adorable and delicious little lambs
at Peony Jade! No one could stop gushing about how cute these little lambs were! We almost couldn't bear to eat them! The dumplings were packed full of minced pork and mushroom and were a delight to savour even though the skin was too thick and doughy. The steamed black-eyed pea cake had jin hua ham, mushroom and golden pumpkin in them and the contrast of a soft cake packed with a crunch is just brilliant
Hand-crafted Goat-shaped Deep-fried Hum-Soi-Kuok : $9.88 (3 pieces )
Steamed Black-eyed Pea Cake with Golden Pumpkin (1kg) : $38.88
“Reaping Abundance Wealth” Australian Premium Whole Abalone Poon Choi - $468.88 / $598.88
With a whopping 18 top quality premium ingredients incorporated into this, I highly doubt that you'll find another poon choi as extravagant. Usually, poon choi has 12-13 ingredients and they're already so lavish so can you imagine 18 ingredients? Just look at that and let your eyes feast for a bit. Think Australian abalones, Sakura chicken, pork knuckle, fish maw, king prawns, South African spiked sea cucumbers and more!
The takeaway poon choi package comes with 3 complimentary festive creations
1) Atlantic Salmon Yu Sheng
2) Peony Jade's Signature Cherry Wood Charcoal Roasted 'Prosperity' Golden Duck
3) Peony Jade's pan fried 'Longevity' Glutinous Rice
Peony Jade has also arranged for some performances!
“A Wealth of Prosperity and Longevity” Hong Kong Roast USA Goose sealed with Chef’s Special ‘Fa Cai” Broth - $188.88
GOOSE. I love goose. And it's not easy to find goose, and a sumptuous one at that, in Singapore! But Peony Jade has done this justice. The superior stock that the goose was cooked in is infused with Chinese herbs such as Angelica Root and Radix Astragali. The 3.8kg grain-fed goose is roasted for up to 2 hours to achieve that splendid tenderness
‘Abundance Fortune’ Slow-Fire Stewed Lamb with Bamboo Shoots and Chestnuts - $78.88
The grass-fed lamb cutlets are wok-braised with numerous ingredients including star anise, fresh bamboo shoots and shitake mushrooms for 1.5 hours before it is served. I didn't try this as I'm not a fan of lamb and the smell was overwhelming for me even though it was said to be pretty mild already. But seems like everyone enjoyed it except that the majority found it a tad too salty
“Huat Ah!” Prosperity Goats Gift Set -$88.88
Once again, exclamations of how adorable these little goats were resounded across the room. Every goat is individually handcrafted and I can't put into words how well made they are! The immense effort placed into the details must have demanded a great deal of time. These sweet little treats are filled with salty egg custard!
“Overflowing Wealth” Glazed Kum-Quat with “Fa-Cai”Vanilla Beans - $18.88/jar
One of the highlights was certainly the glazed kumquats which are boiled for 45 minutes before they are soaked in sugar syrup for seven days and infused with vanilla pods before they are served. Every bite is a tangy start and sweet finish. Really creative and addictive!
Reunion
Steamed ‘Abundance Wealth’ Claypot Jasmine Rice with Chinese Sausages,
Liver Sausages and Home-made Air Dry Duck Drumstick - $68.88/ $88.88
One of the hot favourites was the claypot rice which is slow-cooked over fire for 30 minutes. It carries a smoky fragrance and aftertaste that everyone raved about!
'Triumphant Harvest and Joyous Contentment' Gift Set - $78.88/8 pieces
Guess what is hidden inside these beautiful and delicate peony floral dazzlers? Premium low sugar white lotus paste with salted egg yolk and macadamia nuts. It's essentially like a mooncake filling! And I really loved it so much! The outer petals were crisp but kinda tasteless but what lies in the middle is gold
Most of the dishes require orders to be placed at least a day in advance. I'll strongly recommend Peony Jade as the venue for your reunion dinners or any Chinese New Year celebratory lunches or dinners. I was really impressed by the quality of the food! Do also check out their takeaway reunion lunch and dinner set menus and the dimsum buffet that has Meaty Chilli Crab and Buddha-Jumps-Over-The-Wall here
