I've been to Spruce at Phoenix Park numerous times and after a couple of failed attempts at visiting this outlet at the Old Fire Station, here I am, finally! I had the opportunity to try a couple of items from their ala carte menu and their Festive Set Menu and it was a full-filling dinner!
Homemade Lemonade - $6
Really refreshing with a sharp sour punch!
Festive Set Menu (Available 1st-30th December except 24th & 25th)
Roasted Beetroot & Chevre Salad
Split Pea and Sweet Potato Soup - $10 (Add-on)
Every mouthful is one to behold with the thick soup and crunchy peas. I like the contrast of texture and the viscosity of the soup
For the main course, choose from Smoked Lamb Bockwurst with Chestnut Stuffing OR
Roasted Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing
Pumpkin Pie
The pumpkin pie was unique and a good dessert to finish off the meal as it isn't heavy or overly sweet. The texture of the pie could be improved though. The marshmallows kinda destroyed the full flavour and smooth texture of the pie. Meringue would be a better idea, I say!
This Festive Set Menu is priced at $38++ and OCBC cardmembers get to enjoy a 10% discount off this set. Really worth it don't you think! Come celebrate Christmas at Spruce! It's not available on 24th, 25th, 30th and 31st December as they have another Christmas and New Year Set menu priced at $58++. Think Scallop Ceviche, Traditional Roasted Turkey & Honey Glazed Ham or Char-grilled Hanging Tender Steak and Ginger Bread Pudding!
Ala Carte Menu
Spruce Signature Salad - $19
A crazy huge bowl of salad that is sure to fill you up!
Spruce Ahi Tuna Tartare - $22
The ONE dish that I can never get enough of is this. Every single time I return to Spruce, this is a must-order for me and I never ever can forget it! It's so so good! This is probably the 6th time I've had this and somehow it doesn't seem to taste as good as I remember it to be haha but it's still yummy! Served with homemade ciabatta bread and a side of avocado, this is one appetizer that I can eat as a main course! Two portions of it for me please!
Spruce Burger - $18
This burger is huge, quite a chore to cut into, but certainly satisfying. Order your patty medium rare, throw in some crispy bacon, and melted cheese and what's not to love?
Tuna Burger - $24
The Tuna Burger didn't fare as well as the Spruce Burger and I thought the burger and patty could have been tastier
Prawn Pasta - $22
Swimming in zucchini spinach garlic cream sauce, this dish looks like an absolute nightmare to me as I'm a total carnivore. But I gave it a shot and was surprised by how good it was! It's really delicious! The prawns were crunchy and fresh and the pasta cooked al-dente. The sauce was surprisingly addicitve ! This is something I wouldn't want to admit, being completely against vegetables, but this was really delicious and I would actually order it again when I come back here!
Red Velvet Cupcake and Lattes
Pecan Pie
Do check with the staff if this is available when you're there. Packed full of nutty flavour and crunchy pecans, I would recommend this if you're looking for a sweet finish to your meal!
Baked Ginger Date Pudding - $15
This was what I was most excited about, but it really was disappointing. Instead of a moist cake, we found a dry cake with a really dry and crusty exterior. Nothing like a pudding. The sauce and icecream were the saving grace
Spruce @ Bukit Timah is actually quite the perfect hangout. With free parking, happy hour promotions running all night long, and the screening of soccer games, I know I'll be back here soon! And don't forget to check out their weekend brunch too! They're always packed!
