Restaurant Hoshigaoka has recently launched a redesigned ala carte menu and a new kids menu which are available at all four of their outlets. Featured here is the Hoshigaoka Zen ($32) which has been around for more than 30 years! A signature and definitely one of the most popular items here!

Kurobuta Shabu Shabu - $17.90
Great for sharing but also perfect for one, the Kurobuta Shabu Shabu delights with a soup broth that is concocted with shoyu, mirin, sake and fish stock. You just can't go wrong with this combination of hot pot and Kurobuta!

Goma Beef Houba Yaki - $16.90
Possibly my favourite dish of the night, the 30 days aged New Zealand Ribeye Beef served on a magnolia Houba leaf was an instant winner. I don't know if anyone has ever tried goma sauce and not love it but I can literally eat it just on its own! And a marriage of goma and good beef? I'm sold.

Salmon Roll - $8.90
Nothing to shout about but good old sushi roll topped with Japanese mayo

Black Pepper Gindara Teishoku - $24.90
This newly added set to the menu is pretty value-for-money! The tender codfish with homemade black pepper sauce was a joy to bite into and we like that the set comes with sashimi and tempura!

Tempura Icecream - $6.80
The most popular dessert item here is certainly the tempura icecream which is coated in a light batter and drizzled with strawberry sauce. Other sweet treats include matcha icecream, watermelon icecream and Green Tea Tiramisu in a Chocolate Cup!

Restaurant Hoshigaoka at SAFRA Toa Payoh has placed an emphasis on catering to families and kids (especially with those cute bento sets that the children will definitely love!) so do pop by for a good dinner with your family!
