TAO Seafood Asia

Media Invite

Chef Lee Tong Kuon, the former executive chef and co-owner of Thai Village, is the driving force behind the highly rated TAO Seafood Asia at Asia Square. I've dined at Thai Village numerous times with my family and I honestly can't wait to bring them here! I was immensely impressed and I'm so certain that my family is going to love the food here too

Lemongrass with Rock Sugar - $5
A refreshing brewed concoction to kick start the meal

Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg Sauce - $10
Already a winner because its a salted egg dish! Who doesn't love salted egg? Delightful in every crunch!

Chilled Jellyfish Salad - $10
The well-seasoned jellyfish was incredibly crunchy and this was undeniably the crunchiest and best tasting plate of jellyfish that I've ever had. I was won over instantly! I probably ate more than my fair share oops haha

This is the house special chilli sauce that is meticulously crafted with more than ten different ingredients. It packs a fiery punch and it goes well with every dish possible! My partner-in-crime for the day was literally eating it on its own, and pairing it with everything possible haha

TAO Signature Soup with Premium Fish Maw and Crabmeat - $68
A silky smooth soup with the perfect viscousity that captured my heart instantly with its richness and intensity of flavours. In my humble opinion, this was absolutely flawless and I really took my time to slurp it up. I was silently wishing that it was a bottomless bowl! It not only exceeded my expectations, but also left me in a bad place. I mean, how am I supposed to look at soups the same way again?

Stir Fried Fish Maw with Prawns - $44
We wasted no time in popping this into our mouths, to savour it at its best. An interesting dish that can be highly addictive

Steamed Live Marble Goby with Preserved Radish - Seasonal Price
I'm a meat person and was never a particular fan of fish. But when you get to have a taste of the freshest fish, cooked to perfection, with every chunk of meat melting slowly in your mouth, it's a completely different story.

White Pepper Crab - $6/100g
Forget the black pepper crabs that Singaporeans love so much. The White Pepper Crab at TAO will change your life forever. The buttery white pepper sauce is quite frankly, to die for. It has the right amount of spiciness and the creamy texture is not one that you can find elsewhere easily. The crab is superbly cooked, and this was pretty much phenomenal

Lucky me got the huge pincer and I don't usually like to get my hands dirty so my awesome friends always offer to peel prawns and stuff for me but this was so worth getting my hands all dirty for!

Pot Roasted Crab with Glass Noodles $45
I can understand why this is one of the most popular dishes at TAO. Not only does it come with a huge crab, the glass noodles were delicious. The noodles were heavily laced with garlic but it wasn't overwhelming. I was taken aback because I actually loved how fragrant and tasty the glass noodles were. Glass noodles nor garlic have ever scored high points with me. That has to say something, doesn't it? The noodles even come with a side of garlic cloves should you think that they aren't garlicky enough.

Snow Fungus with Red Dates and Gingko Nuts - $8
Sea Coconuts with Longan - $6
Guilin Herbal Jelly - $6
The desserts were simple, no frills and comforting. Nothing to shout about but a decent finish to a fantastic meal.

We were given a tour of the kitchen and I count myself lucky to witness how different their kitchen is from some others that I've seen. They have specific stoves for different dishes and every bowl of their signature soup is prepared individually. It was an amazing experience meeting with the numerous chefs working hard in the sparkling clean kitchen.

This is certainly one of the best meals that I've had this year! Everything is of top quality and quite honestly, well worth every dollar. And I haven't even stopped gushing about TAO to my friends haha. Can't wait to be back come December!
