Fans of Wimbly Lu will be pleased to know that you can now get your favourite desserts at a more accessible location. Hardly a month old, LWL was full when I got there at 1030pm on a Tuesday night. A testament to the popularity of the cafe!
Root Beer Cake - $6.40
This was disappointing on numerous counts. I remember the root beer cake being served in a sort of martini glass at Wimbly Lu. And over here, it is served in a plastic container. Not appealing aesthetically, for sure. Serving seems to be smaller and it doesn't taste as good as the one that I had at the main store. The root beer taste was hardly detectable.
Waffles with Salted Caramel icecream and Rum & Raisin icecream- $11
The waffles were really crisp and pretty fluffy but the two scoops of icecream were not as good as we expected. The taste of rum is almost absent and we felt that the salted caramel icecream was way too buttery
Waffles with Speculoos icecream - $8.50
The speculoos icecream was outstanding and that was probably our favourite item of the lot.
We also shared a homemade iced lemon tea ($3.50) which was surprisingly good and refreshing. At LWL, the portions are indeed littler than those at Wimbly Lu. Do note that LWL only serves desserts, unlike the main store.
Will return to give the cakes and tarts a shot if I'm in the area again!
