INDOCAFE - the white house takes on high tea with a delicate Peranakan touch with a Penang influence. Bringing together flavours of the East and West, INDOCAFE impresses with intricately crafted savory canapes, sweet treats and delicious nonya kuehs

Situated on Scotts Road, INDOCAFE is extremely eye-catching with its white colonial facade. Just a stone's throw away from Newton MRT, it's no mean feat getting here. If you're driving, you can park in the compound!

Peranakan High Tea (with coffee/tea) - $34++
Sparkling High Tea (with a glass of moscato)- $49++
Kopi Luwak High Tea (with a cup of 100% wild Kopi Luwak) - $64++

The moscato was so good that I couldn't resist having another glass! What's better than enjoying a glass of beautiful wine and delicious high tea treats in a comfortable and welcoming place!

I had the opportunity to try the Kopi Luwak too! Although I've been to Indonesia a couple of times, I have always steered clear of Kopi Luwak because, well you know, it's made from the poop of the Asian Palm Civet. However, I've also heard so much about how aromatic the coffee is! You can be assured that the Kopi Luwak at INDOCAFE is from wild Civets and not from Civets that have been captured or bred in captivity.

And here's a piping hot cup right in front of me! Savour it with or without milk, and you might just fall in love with the interesting notes and lingering flavours of the coffee

Foie Gras Mousse Tartlet
Mini Steamed Penang Otah with Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops,
Kurobuta Buah Keluak on Crispy Man Tou
Kari Kapitan Tarlet with Idaho Potato Mousse

These little savoury treats are miniature versions of main courses served at INDOCAFE. The foie gras mousse was subtle and the hardy tart crust was a joy to bite into!

I couldn't decide if my favourite was the otah with scallops or the tartlet with potato mousse. The steamed barramundi otah had a chawanmushi like texture which was quite honestly, captivating! Oh, and it was accompanied with a firm and juicy Hokkaido scallop! Need I say more? The Kari Kapitan Tartlet tasted very much like chicken curry which was absolutely delightful with the smooth potato mousse! All this goodness packed into one of the best tart crusts I've ever had!

Chocolate Macaron
Curry Chocolate Cake
Marble Cheesecake
Banana Cake with Whipped Peanut Butter

My favourite of the lot has to be the banana cake! I was so surprised at how incredibly soft and moist the banana cake was! And it was genius to top it with a blob of creamy peanut butter. So good I immediately asked if this was available in a whole cake! The Curry Chocolate Cake is a new addition to this plate of four and the initially skeptical me was won over by how the flavours actually complemented each other!

Assortment of Nonya Kuehs
It wasn't easy picking a favourite out of the yummy Nonya Kuehs but I think the pulut hitam kueh left the deepest impression

Chocolate Chip and Plain scones

I thought the scones could have been fluffier and perhaps a little crustier
