(CLOSED) Cakes Literally

 photo PB160658-1.jpg
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life is Cakes Literally, a humble cake cafe that serves up honest and yummy cakes baked from the heart. Carissa, the owner, told us that she picked this spot along Owen Road as she adored the serenity of the area. We couldn't agree more as there is something really charming about this quiet stretch of shophouses

Cakes Literally is one of the cake shops that I wanted to work with for my cafe so here I was, having the pleasure of sampling four of the bestsellers here

Valrhona Flourless Cake - $7.50
I adored the different textures present in this chocolate cake which isn't overly rich. Dry cocoa powder atop a moist and light chocolate cake that melts oh-so-slowly in your mouth. mhmm

Carrot Cake - $7
I've never actually eaten a carrot cake, and I didn't think that I would like one but the Carrot Cake at Cakes Literally, changed my life. Literally. I actually finished up almost the entire slice! Don't quite know what to say about this cake except that, you have to try it!

Lemon Almond Sesame - $5.50
Packed with a zesty punch, lemon lovers are bound to fall in love with this! The hint of almond provided a fragrant and slightly bitter edge to the cake which is a contrast that is quite brilliant. My tasting partner for the day enjoyed this cake very much! It was a little too sour for me after a few bites though

Avocado Pound Cake - $4
This was a very interesting item because avocado is basically tasteless and this tasted like a soft butter pound cake to us.

Cakes Literally also serves up coffee from Papa Palheta and teas imported from Australia!
If you're looking for a quiet place for some me-time and good cakes, do give Cakes Literally a shot!
