Accommodation in Europe
We've received a couple of emails asking us about our accommodation in Europe so here's a post for our dear readers!
We stayed at a friend's place when we were in London so there aren't any pictures or recommendations but his place was in Greenwich, zone two, which was near the GMT and Greenwich Market!
Rome
In rome, we stayed pretty far away from the Roma Termini. X picked a place near the Vatican. We could see the beautiful dome of the Vatican from the entrance to the building! Our apartment was located in the basement and was designed somewhat like a "cave". It was very cooling and sometimes we didn't even switch on the aircon. Our apartment is located very near the bus station so it was very convenient. There were also restaurants and mini marts nearby. However, it's very quiet at night so when we were walking back late at night, I was always quite scared haha. Also, the wifi is really weak and hardly detectable from our room. We had to take turns to connect by sitting at the door.
Florence
We stayed at Hotel Panorama which was near the Santa Maria Novella station, the Accademia and the Duomo. Basically, we could walk to all the attractions and there are also a number of buses that we could take just a short distance away from the hotel. Do be careful when you're traveling towards the hotel from the train station because the buses can be quite confusing so make sure you board the one which is going in the correct direction!
We got a much larger room than the one we booked and of course we were pleased with the extra space and beds where we could just dump our stuff
The buffet breakfast was simple, comforting and satisfying.

Venice
In the entire trip, the only thing I was tasked to do was to book the hotel in Venice, which I did with zest. Upon arriving at the hotel on 24th May, I was shocked and angry to find that my booking was not reflected in the system of the hotel. Turns out that I booked the hotel on 24th June... I was really upset with myself and needless to say we were quite helpless because it was a Friday and apparently, every hotel in Venice was fully booked. Luckily for us, the owner of the hotel came and told us that he had an apartment for us but we'll have to top up money. So our hotel room cost $300 a night. Pricey but we were really thankful! Also, our apartment was very near the Piazza San Marco and it was quite cozy and comfy
At least it came with a jacuzzi bathtub!
Milan
Hotel Monopole is located very near the Milano Centrale Train Station so it was really convenient!
The spread of the buffet breakfast was quite impressive!
And we had fresh coffee too!
Paris
We loved our apartment in Paris! It's big and pretty and so conveniently located! It's only a three minute walk from Luxembourg(pronounced as loo-zerm-boo) station and walking distance from the pantheon, St Germain Des Pres, Jardin Du Luxembourg etc!
We were told that we could use everything in the apartment!
The bathroom is slightly old but there's a washing machine and detergent so we could wash our clothes! One thing though, is that the hot water is not consistent and it either gets too hot or too cold every few minutes
We absolutely adored this spacious apartment and the fluffy bed! However, one thing that I really disliked was that the apartment was located next to a school or something so every morning around 8am, I would be awakened by the joyful noises of kids screaming. Our landlord, Clotilde, is super sweet and nice and prepared maps and towels for us upon our arrival!
Our accommodation was on the expensive side but X ensured that I would like every single one of them. He made sure that he chose convenient locations which were comfortable and for hotels, he chose those that had good reviews on their breakfast. Really thankful for him because he spent so much time doing research, liaising with landlords and making all the bookings. And really thankful that he was willing to spend so much money on accommodation because he was aware of my preferences without me even having to tell him. Blessed indeed.
Hope this list was useful and enjoy your holiday in Europe! [:

Where do you usually do your bookings of hotels from?

DeleteOne of the most common problems when people decide to visit some place is of accommodation. Same was the case with us when we went to Rome, 4 years back, but this time when we went to Paris on the starting of this year we thought of hiring an apartment so that we can stay without any tension. We want to make our trip memorable so, we start searching for some apartments that are affordable and it is easy to get comfort instead of staying in a hotel. Many people choose Paris apartments for staying in Paris and the reason behind it is that it gives privacy as well as personal touch. Moreover they are not too costly and you can also feel like that you are a local person at that place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing i will share it with my friends.
