Drury Lane

 photo P8096915.jpg

Taking its name from a street in one of my favourite cities, London, Drury Lane is one of the latest additions to the already cafe-packed Duxton area.

Iced Latte

The coffee was pretty good. It was slightly acidic and carried a charming bitter aftertaste

Cloud 9 - $10
Fluffy cream cheese pancake with daily fruit compote

Lightly crisp on the outside, the pancakes went well with the sweet slices of poached pear. The pancakes would have been better if they were fluffier though

Eggs Benedict - $12
Honey cured turkey bacon, poached eggs, homemade hollandaise sauce, toast

The hollandaise sauce was lacking in taste, flavour and texture. The presentation of this dish didn't impress and the eggs were overcooked.

Salmon Baked Eggs - $12
Smoked salmon, capers, rocket, homemade baked beans, cheese

The salmon baked eggs was probably the best of the lot that we had. We adored the tomato base and the homemade baked beans. However, we felt that the presentation of this dish could have been better

The open kitchen didn't quite appeal to us because if there was alot of cooking going on, the cafe was bound to reek of oil and such. I'd recommend sitting upstairs where it's more chill and away from the kitchen. The food didn't leave a very deep impression but they were certainly reasonably priced.
