Necessary Provisions

Nestled in a quiet estate and basking in refreshing serenity is Necessary Provisions, a cafe that is just slightly more than a month old. I didn't know of this place and X didn't want to tell me where we were going so I was really excited as he drove into an unfamiliar place. I love exploring new places, and especially, a hidden gem like Necessary Provisions!

Parking lots are available right outside the cafe. We strongly recommend that you drive because this place is really quite secluded

Espresso in milk - $6.50
Frozen espresso cubes served with a cute jug of milk.

Initially, we were really amazed by this idea! It reminded us of the osmanthus tea at &Made. However, we later realised that this wasn't exactly a very smart idea. We started drinking the coffee and realised that there was too little milk by the time the cubes have melted completely. The drink ended up being really strong and way too sour for us.

Muffin - $3

This muffin is pretty huge and is drizzled with melted chocolate instead of having chocolate chips embedded in them. The muffin was fluffy and nicely moist and it was topped with a thin crispy crust. A pretty damn good muffin, we say! We would have loved more chocolate though!

Pastrami Sandwich - $9

This sandwich was easier to be eaten by hand than to be tackled with cutlery. Although it was a difficult task trying to cut through the hard bread, the combination of melted cheese and tender beef slices was very pleasing to our palates and we enjoyed the sandwich!

Banana bread - $3

The banana bread was the quickest item to be served, almost instantly after I placed an order. However, it was served cold, as if it was just taken out from the fridge. It was a little hard too. I don't know whether it's supposed to be served this way but I think it would have tasted better if it was warmed up.

Savory scones - $5

The scones took really long to be served, about 30 minutes after the order was placed. They arrived last, after we were done with everything else. Not taking into account the long wait, I'll certainly recommend the scones. It's a joy cracking through the thin hard crust and sinking our teeth into the fluffy and soft bread centre. These lightly salted bite-sized scones will captivate you!

Do check with the helpful and friendly staff on what items are available because we actually wanted pasta but it was written on the menu that pasta would only be available after 6pm, so we dropped that idea until we saw people having pasta.

Necessary Provisions is a good place to just chill out and catch up with your peers but do expect to wait quite awhile for your food. The cafe wasn't full when we were there but we already had to wait for a substantial amount of time. But again, they are very new and I'm sure things will get better as time goes by!
