Here's a short guide that we've compiled after being in stunning Seoul for more than a month!
Hope it's helpful!
14 places to go and 9 things to do in Seoul :
PLACES TO GO:
1) Seoul Tower
Observatory package ( Teddy Bear Museum + N Seoul Tower Observatory)
- 14,000 won
2) Teddy Bear Museum at Seoul Tower
3) The Demilitarized Zone
Admission : about $100 SGD
4) Seoul Grand Park Zoo
Admission : 5,000 won
(includes sky tram ride & admission to Dolphin Show)
Flying dolphins!
Cute sheep which was molested by everyone
5) Seoul Race Course
There wasn't a live race when we were there but there was the live broadcast of a race in Jeju so we joined in the fun by betting! Basically we lost everything except for one race where there was a horse that really looked like a cow and I thought it'd be funny if it won so we bet on it to win the race and guess what, IT DID. HAHAHA. We couldn't stop laughing. It was really quite fun and exciting!
6) Lotte World
Admission : 38,000 won
They asked for our birthdays and X's birthday is in December and apparently 12 is their lucky number of the month so we had a huge discount and only paid 23,000 won each haha
Lotte World was just alright. We had to queue for really long for every ride and they weren't exactly very thrilling. The gyro drop brings you really high up but the drop was so fast that I could barely feel anything haha but the suspense and thrill while going up was awesome.
We didn't go to Everland because it was too far and it was 35 degrees celcius in summer haha but everyone was raving about the T-Express!
7) Dog Cafe/ Cat Cafe
Sunnyne Dog Cafe
There
is another dog cafe in Myeong Dong. Apparently there's an Afghan Hound
there! We didn't visit any cat cafes because X is terrified of cats
hahaha. But anyway you'll usually see giant mascots of Garfield/Snoopy
walking around promoting the cat and dog cafes!
8) Seaworld (63 Building)
63 Building is very iconic as it is a skyscraper clad in gold. So people make it a point to visit the building
Admission : 15, 000 won
I bought fishies to feed the otters!
Angsty otter trying to get the fish
Baby seals
9) Changdeokgung Palace
Admission : Secret Garden Tour, 8000 won
Changdeokgung is a UNESCO world heritage site.
The secret garden tour took 1.5 hours. We didn't manage to join the English tour so we joined a Korean group and we just kinda walked around on our own. We were quite disappointed because there wasn't a garden..? Or anything really special haha but I guess when you're in Korea, you just have to visit a palace.
10) Sam Cheong Dong
Cute shopping street
There are many cute cafes here such as Egg and Aa Cafe!
11) Hanok Village
View from the top
Traditional Korean houses
12) Cheongye Stream
13) Casino
Seven Luck Casino at Hilton Hotel
Free entry, free drinks/snacks and remember to get the vouchers for free meals!
14) Hongdae Weekend Market/ Gigs
THINGS TO DO IN SEOUL:
1) Jimjibang
In Sinchon
Roast the sweet potatoes on the charcoal in the superhot room!
2) Noraebang
Luxury Noraebang (Hongdae)
Six of us spent 11,000 won each for 2 hours and free flow drinks/popcorn/icecream
In Sinchon
We spent 30,000 won for 2 hours for 10 people and they even gave us a free patpingsu!
3) Catch a 4D movie
4) Cycling along Han River
There is a bicycle rental shop where you can rent bikes for a really affordable price. It's nice cycling along the river during sunset
5) Catch a live soccer/baseball game
We watched the game between Seoul FC and the team from Gangwon! There were cheerleaders and the crowd was pretty wild!
6) Nanta Show
We caught the NANTA show at the NANTA theatre in Hongdae! We enjoyed it!
7) Shop
Dongdaemun Part 1 : (Migliore, Hello Apm, Good morning City, Doota)
Dongdaemun Part 2: (opens only at 8pm and closed on Saturdays)
To get here, you'll have to walk quite a distance from Dongdaemun Part 1!
U:US, Migliore Valley, Nuzzon, Designer Club etc
Yeongdeungpo Underground Shopping centre/Gangnam underground shopping centre
Myeongdong, Ewha and Hongdae are good places to shop at too but the stuff are more pricey
8) Clubbing
Hongdae is the place to go for affordable clubbing. There are numerous clubs here. Papa Gorilla, Mama Gorilla, Baby Gorilla, Noise Basement 2, Cocoon etc. X and I stay right next to Cocoon and we see neverending queues outside the club every night! The Koreans really can party! The admission to these clubs range from 5, 000 won onwards. Gangnam has clubs too but they're more expensive, somewhat like Zouk in Singapore.
9) Eat
Check out our posts on the best cafes in Seoul, and best cocktail bars in Seoul!
Hope you like Korea as much as we do and that you find this helpful! [:
